Your information on Fatiyyah Academy

Fatiyyah Academy is where you have your Quran lessons with your teacher. This page explains, in a few words, what Fatiyyah Academy knows about you and what happens to it.

What Fatiyyah Academy knows about you

• Your name and username, which your academy gave you. Your PIN is a secret: even we cannot read it.
• Your lessons: when they are, and whether you came.
• What your teacher marks while you recite, like a word to practise again, and the ayahs you recited.
• Your homework and whether you have done it, if your academy uses homework in Fatiyyah Academy.
• Your voice in video lessons, if your academy records them and your parent has said yes. Fatiyyah Academy doesn't have video lessons yet. Recordings are deleted after a while.
• Your recitations that you record and send to your teacher, or that your teacher records in class, and the voice notes your teacher records for you about them.

Who can see it

• Your teacher and the people who run your academy.
• Your parents or carers who are linked to your account.
• Nobody else. Other students cannot see your marks or homework. We never show adverts, and we never sell your information.

Your recitation recordings

• Who can listen: you, your teacher (or a teacher standing in for them) and the people who run your academy. Your parents can listen too, if your academy allows it. Nobody else: not other children, and not their families.
• They are deleted after a while, when the time your academy chose is up. Your teacher's marks and written notes stay.
• Sometimes one is kept for longer. If a grown-up who looks after children's safety needs a recording to help keep someone safe, it is kept until they have finished, then deleted.

Your camera and microphone

Fatiyyah Academy doesn't have video lessons yet, so it doesn't use your camera. Your microphone only turns on when you record your recitation, after you or your parent allow it, and you can stop recording any time.

If you are worried

You can always ask your parent, your teacher or your academy. You can also press Report a concern in Fatiyyah Academy (in your account menu, or the flag in a lesson) and tell your academy what is wrong. If it is about someone's safety, our safeguarding team is told too. You can ask to see what Fatiyyah Academy knows about you, or ask for it to be corrected or deleted. A grown-up can help you write to us at privacy@fatiyyah.academy.
